SHADBOLT GROUP are proud to sponsor North East Regional F1 in Schools winners – Team Synergy.

Last week, the Emmanuel College students have claimed the regional trophy for ‘Development Regional Champions’ after participating in the North East Regional Finals at the Nissan Sports & Leisure Complex.

The talented 15-year-olds from Gateshead are now looking forward to the F1 in Schools UK National Finals taking place next month at the Airbus Factory in Chester, which brings together the best 42 teams from across the UK.

However, the Synergy win isn’t the first from Emmanuel, as 16 to 17-year-olds, Team Unity, won the National Finals back in March 2018!

Enterprise Manager for Team Synergy, Sean Hobson, who is currently in Year 10, said: “I work on the enterprise and financial side of things for our team.

“What we do in F1 in Schools will definitely help in the future as I am looking to take this is university in terms of economics.”

Sean was the one who originally contacted Shadbolt in 2018 requesting our support by sponsoring the team.

Shadbolt are now platinum sponsors for the team, which goes towards funding team uniforms, advertising and car design and build.

F1 in Schools STEM Challenge runs across numerous countries and originally started in 1999. Now, the scheme is extremely popular amongst secondary schools in the UK.

In the North East, F1 in Schools is sponsored by Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK Ltd (NMUK) who are also clients of Shadbolt Group. They kindly manufacture the student’s car models ahead of races from CAD drawings.

The activity devises teams into job roles, equipping students with key skills required for jobs in the outside world, it also helps them with deciding their right career path for going into college or university.

Team Synergy has four members; Enterprise Manager, Sean Hobson, Graphic Designer, Oliver Chapman, Team Leader, James Harvey and Design Engineer, Abhishek Pulla.

Although, the team have just scored a win, they aren’t stopping there as their overall goal is to compete and win the F1 in Schools World Finals hosted in Singapore in September.

Here at Shadbolt, we wish them luck and can’t wait until the Nationals next month!
