SHADBOLT Group are thrilled to welcome their second Graduate to the team, within the space of two months.
Graduate Geo-Environmental Engineer, Will, is now our third permanent member of staff based at our Midlands Office.
He will be learning on the job, assisting in various large development sites across the Midlands and southern regions, to help fulfill our ever-increasing workload in the region.
Will said: “It has taken two years since graduating Environmental Science and Physical Geography at Keele University in 2023 to find a permanent role within the industry.
“I have worked various temporary roles since University, but Shadbolt Group is my first position in the industry I want to work in, and I’m excited to start my career.”
Following the opening of our southern office back in 2019, we are thankful that the volume of development sites we have been employed on has grown year-on-year.
This has enabled us to grow and employ personnel from the Northampton area, reducing the number of head office engineers required to commute, thereby minimizing our carbon footprint and improving the overall work-life balance of our staff.
Will continued: “I have enjoyed getting to know my colleagues, being shown around current active sites, and getting stuck in.”
“I am looking forward to developing my knowledge, practical experience, and establishing myself in the Geo-Environmental sector for the long term.”
As our Environmental team is now in peak season, Will is joining at the perfect time to experience a wide range of site investigation techniques and remediation strategies across various development sites.
Stephen, Associate of Environmental who leads the Midlands Office, said: “Will has settled into the department well, he has been assisting in supervising rigs, logging soil, trail pitting, gas monitoring, prepping and scheduling contamination, geotechnical testing, and more”.
“It is good that we have had the opportunity to bring on board a graduate, as in general our industry has a low entry rate and high attrition. Everyone deserves an opportunity to get their foot in the industry they want to be in”.
With further projects in the pipeline for our Corby office, we hope to continue to expand our southern team.
Will is our first local Graduate working out of Corby. Previous to him, Stephen was brought on board as Associate Geo-Environmental Engineer in 2022, running the southern workload, following that, Claire was appointed as Senior Consultant in 2024.
