Backworth Care Facility
Northumberland Estates have been given the green light to begin construction of £4million specialist care facility at Backworth.
Located west of Briardene Way, the specialist facility will consist of three buildings; the main two-storey facility made up of 28 apartments, as well as four adapted bungalows for those requiring around-the-clock care.
Unlike standard residential care homes, this facility is specifically designed to cater to the resident’s needs. Two bungalows are focused towards high dependency, while the larger building focuses on dementia and early onset dementia.
Shadbolt’s Architectural department have been working alongside dementia experts to integrate specialist features into the design such as a sensory garden and other adapted facilities.
Construction started early August 2020 and is set to finish early next year (2021), then officially open in June.
